NEXT VERY COLD STORM WILL BEGIN TO IMPACT THE REGION ON FRIDAY WITH GUSTY WINDS ON FRIDAY FOLLOWED BY INCREASING CHANCES FOR SNOW FRIDAY NIGHT AND EARLY SATURDAY.

SNOW LEVELS WILL REMAIN AT THE NEVADA VALLEY FLOORS FOR FRIDAY AND SATURDAY AS HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL REMAIN NEAR OR BELOW FREEZING. SNOW IS EXPECTED TO REACH NORTHERN LASSEN AND NORTHERN WASHOE COUNTIES BY MIDDAY FRIDAY AFTERNOON BEFORE SPREADING SOUTH TO THE TAHOE BASIN AND ALONG INTERSTATE 80 BY THE EVENING COMMUTE. SNOW WILL REACH MONO COUNTY BY FRIDAY NIGHT AND PERSIST INTO SATURDAY MORNING.

A FOOT OR MORE OF SNOW IS POSSIBLE IN THE SIERRA ABOVE 7000 FEET WITH SEVERAL INCHES OF SNOW AROUND LAKE TAHOE. ACCUMULATING SNOW SHOULD OCCUR ACROSS WESTERN NEVADA WITH TRAVEL IMPACTS ON INTERSTATE 80 AND HIGHWAYS 50…95 AND 395.
